MAKE-UP TIPS AND ADVICE: SESSION 1

In a dilemma whether to buy a powder blush or cream blush? Don't have much money but want to be beautiful? And wonder what colours will look good on you? Don't fret! I will share the tricks and tips on the beauty products as I am answering my friends' questions here.

Question 1:
What's the difference between powder blusher and cream blusher? And how to apply as I am afraid that I would end up with streaky cheeks?

Answer:
Cream blusher is perfect for quick application. The colour is more obvious and good for shading.

Cream blusher

While powder blusher will give you a more natural glow.

Powder blusher

How to apply? Brush it on with a big brush. Make sure you apply foundation first before using blusher to make it long lasting. Pay attention to what skin type you have when choosing blusher. If you have dry skin, use a cream blusher. For normal to oily skin, it's okay to use both.

Question 2
I don't have much money to spend on make-up, but would like to buy the essentials. What should I be investing for make-up products?

Answer:
You don't need a lot of make-up or money for that matter, to look good. There are a few important items you need. Foundation or  bb cream are one of them. Get one in your colour tone to help camouflage flaws. Also, find a foundation or bb cream with sunscreen to help protect your skin from harsh UV rays. Next, go for a blusher in a natural tone. I recommend one that's slightly orange for a radiant glow or if you want to look sweet, slightly pink. Buy a few eyeshadows, I like neutral colours so my choice would be earthy colours. Lipstick is important. If your lips are on the drier side, try gloss which contains oil to care for your skin. Also no look is complete without mascara. Buy one in black. Finally, a black eyeliner for any events (you can dish it for a natural look but if you have any events, an eyeliner is a must for a dramatic look).

Question 3
Whenever I apply gloss, it looks as if I've forgotten to wipe my mouth after an oily meal. How do I get shine, not an oilslick?

Answer:
Don't go overboard with lip gloss. Use it lightly and sparingly. For day, go alone with lip gloss. For more shine, especially during nightime, use gloss over lipstick. First apply lipstick, blot and finger-dab on gloss. If glam is your style, try gloss with glitter.
